"The MORE you READ, the more THINGS you will KNOW
The MORE you LEARN, the more PLACES you'll GO!"

~Dr. Seuss~

Supplies :  Green (5th grade) or Blue (6th grade) Composition Notebook,
Green (5th grade) or Blue (6th grade) Plastic Folder

Six Weeks Project : Each six weeks the students will have a project.  This will be a test grade each six weeks.  Their project will reflect what they have learned throughout the six weeks.

Accelerated Reader : Each six weeks the students will set a personal AR goal.  The minimum amount of this goal is based on their independent reading level and on reading an average of 20-25 minutes each night.  The percent of their goal they have earned will be a test grade, and their comprehension rate will be a daily grade.  A new goal is generated at the beginning of each six weeks.

AR Log : Reading logs will be checked every Wednesday.  A parents/guardians signature is required each week to monitor the student’s progress.  Not having their AR log signed will result in a detention.

Homework : Homework will be given and due twice a week.  Monday’s homework is due on Wednesday.  Wednesday’s homework is due on Friday.  Not completing homework on time will result in a detention.

Wordly Wise Vocabulary : Approximately every two weeks the students will be introduced to 15 new vocabulary words.  Vocabulary activities will be assigned for homework.  Vocabulary quizzes will be approximately every two weeks. Vocabulary terms can be found on Quizlet.  This is a great tool for your child to use to study the terms.
